Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Little Narratives ("the Service"), including our web application and mobile apps, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the Service.

These Terms apply to all users of the Service, including educators, center administrators, parents, and guardians.

2. Eligibility

To use Little Narratives, you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms
• For educators: Be authorised to act on behalf of your education center
• For parents: Be a parent or legal guardian of a child enrolled at a participating center

3. Account Responsibilities

When you create an account, you agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information
• Maintain the security of your account credentials
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access
• Accept responsibility for all activities under your account

You may not share your account credentials or allow others to access your account. Each user must have their own account.

4. AI-Generated Content

4.1 How AI Processes Educator Inputs and Child Data

When you use Little Narratives, the following data is processed by AI to generate or enhance content:

• Child Trait Data (first name, age, appearance descriptions, interests, and personality traits) is used to personalise stories, illustrations, and music
• Educator observations (written or voice-dictated) are processed by AI to produce polished, pedagogically-aligned narratives with EYLF outcome mapping
• Story prompts describing situations, learning goals, or challenges are used to generate personalised social narratives
• Voice recordings are transcribed to text and are not stored after transcription

AI processing is performed via a paid enterprise AI API and a secure speech-to-text service, governed by a Data Processing Addendum. Your data is never used to train AI models. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

4.2 Content Review Responsibility — Human-in-the-Loop

All AI-generated content is presented as a draft for your review. You must review and approve all AI output before it is saved, shared, or presented to children.

Specifically, you agree to:

• Review all AI-polished observations before saving them to a child's timeline
• Review all stories, images, and music before presenting to or sharing with children
• Assess whether content is appropriate for each specific child
• Not rely solely on AI-generated content without human review
• Report any inappropriate content to us immediately

Little Narratives is designed so that no AI output bypasses human oversight. The educator or parent always has the opportunity to edit, rewrite, or discard AI-generated drafts before they are finalised.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Upload content that infringes on others' rights
• Attempt to bypass security measures
• Use automated systems to access the Service without permission
• Share content generated for one child with unrelated parties
• Use the Service to generate inappropriate or harmful content
• Misrepresent your affiliation with a child or education center
• Resell or redistribute content generated by the Service

6. Data Responsibilities

6.1 For Educators

Education centers using Little Narratives agree to:

• Obtain appropriate consent from parents/guardians before adding children
• Ensure accuracy of child information entered
• Only grant access to authorised staff members
• Comply with all applicable childcare regulations
• Maintain appropriate records as required by law

6.2 For Parents/Guardians

Parents and guardians using Little Narratives agree to:

• Only access information about children for whom they are authorised
• Keep account credentials secure
• Notify educators of any changes to custody or access arrangements

7. Intellectual Property

7.1 Our Content

The Little Narratives platform, including its design, features, and underlying technology, is owned by Little Narratives Pty Ltd. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our platform without permission.

7.2 AI-Generated Content

Content generated by our AI (stories, images, music) is licensed to you for personal and educational use within your center or family. You may:

• Print and share stories with the child and their family
• Display content in your education center
• Save content for the child's portfolio

You may NOT:

• Sell or commercially distribute AI-generated content
• Claim authorship of AI-generated content
• Use content in ways that could harm children

7.3 Your Content

Information you provide (child descriptions, observations, notes) remains your responsibility. By submitting content, you grant us a license to use it to provide and improve our services.

8. Service Availability

We strive to provide reliable service, but we do not guarantee:

• 100% uptime or uninterrupted access
• That the Service will be error-free
• Specific response times for content generation
• Preservation of all data in case of technical failures

We recommend educators maintain backup copies of important documentation outside of Little Narratives.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law:

• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service
• We are not liable for any harm resulting from AI-generated content that you share with children without proper review
• Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you:

• Violate these Terms
• Engage in fraudulent or illegal activity
• Fail to pay applicable fees
• Misuse the platform in ways that harm children or others

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, your access will be revoked and data handled according to our Privacy Policy.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of New South Wales.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or through the app. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
