The tears at drop-off. The dentist meltdown. Big moments are hard when they arrive out of nowhere — so we help them arrive gently, one small familiar step at a time.

From "what's coming up?" to a plan they look forward to

Three steps. No writing, no design skills — about five minutes, most of it the watercolour drying.

Add your child

One photo becomes a charming watercolour character. Their face never appears in the stories — their character does.

Tell us what's coming up

"She starts daycare Monday and she's clinging to me." Pick the moment or just say it out loud — we listen for what worries them.

The 5-day prep plan

Not one story. A whole gentle build-up.

Built around your child's name, interests, and exactly what makes them nervous. One day at a time, the big day stops being scary.

Why it works

Gentle preparation isn't a nice idea — it's evidence

Little Narratives turns proven practice into something your child actually wants to sit through.

Social stories, done right

Giving a child a "script" for a situation before they face it lowers anxiety and builds confidence — the method Carol Gray pioneered, personalised to your child.

Used by educators & therapists

The same rehearsal approach professionals use for transitions and big feelings — in your pocket, for the exact thing on your calendar.

Because they're the hero

Children pay far more attention when the story stars them. That attention is what makes the preparation actually land.

Parent viewing stories shared by their childcare centre

See their day at daycare — as a story

If your child's centre uses Little Narratives, their educators can share the learning stories they make featuring your child — right beside the plans you build at home. You get a notification the moment a new one is shared.

Questions parents ask us

Everything you need to know about getting your child ready with Little Narratives

What is the Little Narratives app?

It's an app that gets your child ready for the big moments — the first day of daycare, the dentist, a new sibling, potty training and more. You tell it what's coming up, and it builds a gentle 5-day plan: a personalised, illustrated story and a custom song a day, starring your child, plus a printable kit for the real day.

How does the 5-day plan work?

You add your child once (a photo becomes a watercolour character) and pick the moment that's coming up. We ask a couple of quick questions — has she done this before, what's the part that worries her — and build a 5-day journey. Each day gently rehearses one piece of the experience, so by the big day it feels familiar instead of scary.

Which big moments can it help with?

The obvious ones — first day of daycare, dentist visits, a new sibling, potty training, first flights — plus everyday routines (toothbrushing, bedtime, mealtimes, the car seat) and celebrating wins. If you can say it out loud, we can build a plan for it.

Do social stories actually help toddlers?

There is strong research behind social stories, originally developed by Carol Gray. Giving a child a personalised "script" for a situation before they face it reduces anxiety and builds confidence — and children pay far more attention when they are the star of the story.

Can I see stories my childcare centre makes with my child?

Yes — that's a bonus if your centre uses Little Narratives. Educators can share the learning stories featuring your child directly with you; they appear in a 'From your centre' feed alongside the plans you build at home, and you get a notification when a new one arrives.

Is my child's photo safe?

Yes. Photos are used once to create a watercolour illustration of your child, are never shared, and all data is stored on Australian servers in compliance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Australian Privacy Principles).

There's a big day on the calendar. Let's get them ready.
